As the Principal, Julie is responsible for leading the culture, operations and success of the Dalzell-Lance High School Campus. Prior to taking on her role as the principal in 2012, Julie was the assistant principal for the Temple Campus since 2007 when she joined the Camino Nuevo family. Julie started her career as a Teach for America corps member teaching in the Lynwood Unified School District. Teaching and education have been a lifelong passion for Julie starting from teaching youth in Ohio to teaching abroad in Vienna, Austria. A strong advocate for positive behavioral reinforcement, Julie's doctoral dissertation studied the life-changing effects of effective parenting techniques on adolescents.
Julie hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Oberlin College, a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a Master of Education from Loyola Marymount University, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) from UCLA through its Educational Leadership Program.
